Interesting research released this week indicating the volume of different key words on digital press releases, with hotel brands clearly making huge use of such services.
A study of press releases on the SourceWire/ResponseSource system in the UK over 60 days to until the middle of August 2010 found that “hotels” was the tenth most common word contained in bulletins, with “hotel” just a few places behind in position 16.
“Accommodation” was at position 25 and “travel” at 44 in the study of top 250 keywords.
The top ten:
- information
- customers
- business
- online
- services
- management
- company
- service
- year
- hotels
The hotel sector clearly leads other parts of the travel industry and, indeed, other business sectors.
The survey follows a similar study looking at overuse of certain phrases in marketing communications, led inevitably by “leader”, “leading”, “best”, “top”, “unique”, “great” and “solution”.
So perhaps the hotel sector is either full of interesting and marketable news or it has caught on quicker than other sectors to ways companies can use the web to distribute information.
Indeed, one major change in the digital marketing world over recent years is the use of social press releases and techniques within web PR services to ensure companies include links, helping boost page rank in search.
